The need to understand many industry-related codes and standards differentiates our industry from numerous other distributor chain-driven industries.

This five week class, delivered once a week, walks you through opening related requirements of these Codes and Standards:

  • IBC - International Building Code (2015) 
  • NFPA 101 - Life Safety Code (2012) 
  • NFPA 80 - Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives (2013) 
  • ICC A117.1 - Standard for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities (2009) 


You will learn how to:

  • Tell the difference between codes and standards
  • Look up information
  • Interpret codes and standards
  • Determine requirements for fire-rated openings
  • Determine requirements for means of egress openings 


This class will run over five Wednesdays beginning on March 8. Classes will run from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm Eastern. Completion of COR140 will earn you 24 CEP points.
